About

Aims & Scope

The Brazilian Journal of Oncology is the official publication of the Sociedade Brasileira de Oncologia Clínica – SBOC (Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology), Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Oncológica – SBCO (Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology), and Sociedade Brasileira de Oncologia Pediátrica – SOBOPE (Brazilian Society of Pediatric Oncology).

The first issue of the Brazilian Journal of Oncology was published on March 30, 2017. In January 2019, the journal transitioned from publishing complete editions at fixed intervals to a continuous publication model. Under this model, articles are published online in their final form – complete with all bibliographic details – immediately after they are reviewed, approved, and formatted. This ensures a streamlined and efficient dissemination of research within annual volumes.

The journal publishes peer-reviewed clinical and translational studies across all areas of oncology, including clinical oncology, pediatrics, surgery, and radiation therapy. The Brazilian Journal of Oncology’s mission is to provide free, open-access to original research and reviews of innovative advances in oncology to improve clinical care for cancer patients.

The journal considers original papers, case reports, reviews (invited and submitted), editorial comments (invited), and letters to the editor. The journal may occasionally publish Special Articles, such as guidelines or other relevant documents.

The audience comprises medical professionals from diverse oncology disciplines, including medical, pediatric, surgical, radiation, hematologic, gynecologic, and urologic oncology. Readers include physicians, researchers, pharmacists, oncology nurses, and other healthcare practitioners with a predominant interest in oncology.

The Brazilian Journal of Oncology requires that authors follow the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals. More information can be found at https://www.icmje.org.
